The scanner automatically scans the front and back sides, rotates the documents - error-free - in the correct orientation, and warns of any overlap or other error detection. You throw in a stack of paper without taking into account front and back, bottom or top, and they are on your computer at lightning speed. Scanning at the touch of a button: yes, we know that. 'Smart' scanner: everything automatically So far: bravo to the engineers at Fujitsu! Of course I hope that they have also thought about the sustainability of their design. That gives space, a good feeling, also because I will soon have all the important information available everywhere. I can finally make a serious start with digitizing my paper archive.

This in combination with the adequate and ample software options makes me a happy person. The SacnSnap also has no problem with smooth glossy paper, unlike its predecessor. Compact, very user-friendly, very fast and, very important, a very solid and reliable transport system.

Of course I suspected that after so many years progress had been made in the scanner field, but the ScanSnap exceeded all my expectations. Its predecessor, an HP flatbed with later added Automatsiche Document Feeder (not exactly cheap), started to function more and more with difficulty. After the necessary research on comparison sites, I decided to purchase. I have had a Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 for a few weeks now. All good to live with and therefore a perfect device to get rid of those piles of paper.

OCR is also not available in the mobile app, for which a PC is required, while it is done by the processor of the scanner. That is also the only drawback, the device remains dependent on another device and does not work autonomously. Scanning to Evernote, e-mail or a few cloud services is also possible, but always with the intervention of a computer/phone. It is also useful that you can switch between your own profiles from the tray icon for example, 'Business scans' and 'Private scans' if you want to store them in different ways. There is a lot to personalize within the ScanSnap software. This cannot be set in Dutch, but I suspect that this only serves for optimization. The scan quality is very good and also the text recognition works well enough to search the PDFs. Connecting via Wi-Fi takes a little longer than via USB (10 seconds instead of 1 or 2 seconds) but you can work with that. Open the cover and start at the push of a button.
